I just bought some new Japanese knives and hated using them on bamboo or plastic. Wood end boards are supposed to be the kindest on knives. I chose this one because it looked beautiful and it was the most reasonably priced. When it arrived both my wife and I were really impressed with the build and look. Solid piece and excellent craftsmanship. It even seemed like the craftsman took the time to place the best side facing up and placing the pieces where they looked best. I would definitely recommend this cutting board
FYI. If you dont have food grade mineral oil you should get some. The board was really enhanced by protecting with the oil. When you get a new board generously oil it multiple times until it doesnt soak in anymore. This will make sure that moisture and bacteria wont get into the board and prevent cracking or splitting.
